Sweet Home Central School District is a New York State public school district that serves the towns of Amherst and Tonawanda, New York of Erie County. The school district serves about 4,000 students in seven schools including one high school, one middle school, four elementary schools, and one alternative School. Day, the district's assistant superintendent for instruction since 2002, is a former teacher, assistant principal and middle school principal. He succeeds Geoffrey M. Hicks, who will become superintendent of the Arlington Central School District in Poughkeepsie on July 1.

The approaching blizzard, with strong winds with gusts as high as 70 mph, has the potential to cause widespread power outages, according to meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in Buffalo. The Sweet Home Board of Education unanimously confirmed Anthony J. Day as the district's new superintendent Tuesday night. Anthony was without a heartbeat for nearly 20 minutes and ended up suffering a severe brain injury, according to the family. However, Anthony has mild asthma and, after returning home, his family said he had an acute and catastrophic asthmatic attack due to the flu.

The family said Anthony will continue to make a difference by donating his organs, and the extra funds collected will be designated to a nonprofit in his name. “Unfortunately, our sweet Angel was called home,” the DeBord family shared online. Swiatek said Anthony was wise and kind beyond his years, saying he would always go out of his way to do something special for his family.
